Driven by a deep curiosity for people and the environment that shapes them, I like asking questions and making space for reflection, vulnerability, and connection between people. This curiosity has led me from writing and music to youth and social work, and eventually to the melding of my two passions: people and creativity. Strengthened by my varied life experiences I've nurtured these two passions and, with some amazing colleagues by my side, done some wonderful things with them.
From addressing race-based discrimination in schools and organisations, to exploring grief and loss in intimate settings with strangers, and more recently, looking at how organisations can be more culturally safe, and compassionate to grieving people, I'm forever grateful for this work that requires me to show up, be fully present, and challenge myself and those around me. Organisations I’ve worked with include Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement, City of Melbourne, Brimbank City Council, ArtPlay, Arts Access Victoria, cohealth, Arts Generator, and Melton City Council.
In late 2020, I launched The Grief Cocoon, which provides grief support through creativity and community. Since 2016, I've organised and facilitated community events for people who are grieving to provide a warm and open place where they can share creative work and conversations around death, dying, grief and loss. The Grief Cocoon expands this work with workshops, public talks, and a digital community platform to provide ongoing support for people who need it. Through this work, I aim to normalise conversations about death, dying, grief and loss, demystify experiences of grief, and build more compassionate communities that are better equipped to deal with these universal experiences.
